Featured Project: Pro Bono Declaration for the Americas

Final Draft of the Pro Bono Declaration for the Americas Released


In June, the Pro Bono Declaration for the Americas regional drafting committee completed and approved the final text of the Declaration after a year of consultation with members of the legal community in Latin America. The committee will now begin the process of collecting signatures and preparing for the Declaration's launch in late 2007.  >>>

Lawyers Share Strategies for Advancing Women in the Legal Profession
Vance Center representatives traveled to Argentina in April to meet with women lawyers and share strategies for advancing gender diversity in Latin American law firms.  >>>

Amicus Briefs Submitted to Inter-American Commission
Two amicus briefs facilitated by the Vance Center's Amicus Network were recently filed at the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights. One concerns access to state-held information and the other due process of law and freedom of speech.  >>>

Working with the Vance Center and the City Bar's African Affairs Committee, lawyers from Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton analyze the state of gender-based violence legislation in sub-Saharan Africa.  >>>

The Vance Center's Princeton Project 55 fellow, Alyson Zureick, will begin a fellowship with the International Rescue Committee in Sierra Leone in September.  >>>
