NYC Bar Association Announces Winners of the 20th Annual Legal Services Awards
New York City Bar Association has named four legal services attorneys and one non-attorney as recipients of the Twentieth Annual Legal Services Awards, which give recognition to attorneys and non-attorneys who provide outstanding civil legal assistance to New York's poor. The Awards will be presented on Thursday, May 14th, at 4 p.m . at the Association, to which the legal services community is invited.
This year’s recipients are:
Kim Barnett, Staff Attorney, 32BJ Legal Services Fund
Lourdes Rodriguez Mo , Supervising Attorney, Northern Manhattan Improvement Corp.
Una Leonora Perkins , Paralegal, MFY Legal Services, Inc.
Lisa Sbrana, Supervising Attorney, Health Law Unit, The Legal Aid Society
Oscar S. Straus III, Director, Elderly Project, Volunteers of Legal Service (VOLS)
This year’s Awards will be presented by Hon. Allan Gropper, Judge, U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Southern District of New York and chair of the Committee that founded the award.
The awards are administered by the Special Committee on the Legal Services Awards, chaired by William T. Russell, Jr., and sponsored by the Committee on Pro Bono and Legal Services, chaired by Madeleine Schachter. The awards have been endowed by a generous contribution from the Horace W. Goldsmith Foundation.
